
GPDSC Welcomes New Council Member Judge Mark Anthony Scott
Judge Mark Anthony Scott
Judge Mark Anthony Scott was sworn in on January 5, 2007 as GPDSC’s newest council member. He will fill the previously vacant 4th Judicial District position.
Judge Scott presides over civil, domestic relations, and criminal felony matters as a Superior Court Judge in the Stone Mountain Judicial Circuit. Prior to being elected as a Superior Court Judge in August 2004, Judge Scott’s primary legal concentration focused on criminal defense work throughout the United States. He previously served on the faculty of Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and is the Immediate Past President of the DeKalb Bar Association.
Judge Scott earned his J.D. degree from Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. in 1984. Prior to law school, Judge Scott served in the United States Air Force where he earned an Associate of Science Degree in Business Administration. He was offered a scholarship and commission through “Operation Bootstrap” at California State University, Fresno, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communication in 1980. Judge Scott was honorably discharged after serving in the United States Air Force for 3 ½ years.
Judge Scott’s passion for the law and long experience with the criminal justice system make him a welcome asset to the Council.
